Wedding dress designer
Us girlies here at One Fab Day love to hear of new brands and designers that we haven’t heard of popping up on our radar. We do a happy dance each time we come across creatives in the wedding industry who strive to produce that something a little different. So you can just imagine how giddy we got when we received an email from the lovely ladies over at The White Room to let us know that they have been appointed exclusive stockists in Ireland of the beautiful Spanish inspired bridalwear brand, Otaduy.
Otaduy was born on a top-floor apartment on Keap Street, NYC one summer night with friends, music and photographs. The company takes inspiration from moments, snapshots and the little things in life.
The dresses, which are all made in Spain have a fun yet beautiful bohemian vibe which stands apart from what we usually expect from Spanish design houses, and instead provides brides with something altogether more modern, and fashion-forward.
The collection is inspired by nature and designed using lightweight fabrics such as silks, tulle and crA?pe, giving each gown an airy light look. Definitely for the boho-chic bride looking for that folky-vintage look.
Carolina Otaduy, the designer behind the collection, describes her vision of the type of bride who will wear her dresses:
“Yes, you can wear whatever you want -dressed in white and wearing leather boots, or wearing braids and a flower crown. You can wear satin or a lace dress, an open back dress or paint your nails black. It is your day. You set the rules. Or even better, you both set the rules. Because this is a tale of two people. A story that started with the first I love you and now continues with that I do. Like most good things in life, it’s a bit frightening, but you also know that it’s always worth taking the risk.”
Here, here, Carolina, music to our ears….
We are big fans of the laid-back style of the Elisa Cristina dress, with the lace sleeves pushed up and long tiered skirt. Perfect for relaxed bride who just doesn’t want the poufy-princess look.
Speaking about the arrival of the collection to The White Room, owner Marion Mathews says:
“we are always on the lookout for something different and we love that Otaduy is setting new trends and pioneering the individual. In a world of copies and mass producing to find a label that is made on a small scale in Spain with an original look and such beautiful quality fabrics gets us really excited.”
We are just as excited! We love a designer who inspires a bride to take a fashion risk and yet stay true to her personal style, that’s our kind of bride!
Otaduy gowns are priced at €1,400-€1,950 and are available now to order from The White Room, Mullingar.
